Passthrough problem

Good morning, I have just ended my home theater system, but i've a problem with it. The system is:
- AVR: Denon X4400H (with connected speakers, a 5.1 system);
- TV: Sony X900F 49" (KD49X900F);
- Xbox One X.

I've connected the Xbox to the HDMI IN of the AVR, and the TV HDMI ARC to the HDMI OUT ARC of the AVR. I want to use the 5.1 system for watching DVD, Bluray, etc (using Xbox as a reader), but for quick sessions of gaming (or when I don't need Home Theater) I want to use audio for TV speakers. So I've activated on Denon the Passthrough functionality, and Xbox as passthrough source.
Well, I turned on Xbox, turned on TV (not set on the HDMI of the AVR) and AVR OFF. Well, black screen in this way. Then I selected on TV the HDMI of the AVR (HDMI 3); in this way AVR turned on and Xbox audio ran through 5.1 system.
So my problem is this: with passthrough activated, I want that AVR is turned off and I have audio and video of Xbox on TV, isn't?
I'm missing something?
Thanks for your help.
