PS4 Bluetooth Range Increase for Controllers

Hi,

Currently my PS4 is in a media console - about 30 feet away from my TV. If I hit a sweet spot, I can get the controllers to work with no lag in a specific area of the room. However, I would prefer to be able to play anywhere within the room. I have read about increasing the bluetooth with a range extender that needs to be sodder'ed to the motherboard.

Is there anything else that can be used for this? Is there a dongle they sell to increase range?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Before resorting to that, my first suggestion would be to try and eliminate as much Bluetooth interference as you can. You'd be surprised how much radio congestion you may have in that room. Shut off Bluetooth on everything in there or in surrounding rooms that isn't being actively used. Anyway, try that first and see what happens to your controller's range.

The devices in the console are:

Denon 3400X which has bluetooth (receiver is on)

Nvidia Shield which also has bluetooth (which is off when I use the PS4)

There are no other surrounding devices.

Ok. You should be fine then if that's it. Especially since bluetooth is so flexible frequency wise. Some people have like a hundred devices show up. Haha.

Another question. Is your PS4 out in the open or is it enclosed in furniture or something?

This might not be an option for you, but I actually prefer to play PS4 games wired. The newer controllers actually switch to wired mode when you use a USB cable, and there is perceptibly less lag, so if you play shooters or anything that requires quick reflexes, you gain a slight advantage.
