The taping of the Rams walkthrough did not happen. Matt Walsh got indemnity and turned over the tapes they made. He also said there was no taping of the walk-through and the Herald had to retract the statement.

Quote:
Nearly nine months after the incident, the Boston Herald reported, citing an unnamed source, that the Patriots had also videotaped the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough practice prior to Super Bowl XXXVI in February 2002,[8] an allegation denied by Belichick[7] and later retracted by the Boston Herald. Meanwhile, Matt Walsh, a Patriots video assistant in 2001 who was fired after the team's 2002 season, told the media the same week that he had information and materials regarding the Patriots' videotaping practices, but demanded an indemnity agreement before speaking with the NFL.[9] The NFL reached a deal with Walsh on April 23, 2008, and arranged a meeting between Goodell and Walsh.[10] Prior to the meeting, Walsh sent eight videotapes, containing opponents' coaches' signals from the 2000 through 2002 seasons, in accordance with the agreement.[11] Goodell and Walsh met on May 13, 2008, at which time Walsh told Goodell he and other Patriots employees were present at the Rams' walkthrough to set up video equipment for the game but that there was no tape of the walkthrough made; as a result, Goodell told the media no additional penalties would be brought against the Patriots.[12] Less than 24 hours later, the Herald issued an apology for the article about the alleged walkthrough tape.[13]

Kurt Warner is very firm in his belief that they did..

of course there is no proof..and this is well before the whole thing blew up and became public..but i remember distinctly watching that game and my wife can testify to it..i sat there in shock and said to her, its almost like they know what plays are being ran.. that offense was dominating the entire season and the pats were always one step ahead the entire game and completely shut them down

could just be a coincidence...but i remember distinctly it just felt off...but who knows.

People want to believe they did it but there is no proof and the guy who did turn over all of the proof of the taping says it didn't happen.

I'm not surprised Warner believes it happened; they were heavily favored. The Pats played them earlier that season and it was a close game with the Rams winning 24-17. IMO, it's reasonable that Belichick would come up with a solid game plan when facing them for a second time in a season. I was just as shocked they won, though.

I feel ya'. During the 2003 Super Bowl, where the Panthers lost to the Pats, it seemed in the second half of that game that the Pats knew every play Jake Delhomme was going to run as soon as he stepped up to the line. They consistently made every right guess, every play, including when Jake called an audible. The Panthers continued to score and the game came down to the wire, but it seemed like the Pats knew every single thing the Kitties were going to do.

And it wasn't just the fans who noticed it. A lot of the players commented on it too. Now, you may say (and Cardo no doubt will ), that's just a result of great coaching and great reads by the Pat's middle linebacker, and you may be right. But it was damn strange at the time as their number of correct guesses and adjustments seemed to defy the laws of mathematical probability.

again...the bounty was real...but it was not meant to be taken literally...the entire point of it was to knock players out the game...it was not to tear ACL, kneecap, break necks etc...common sense would dictate that it would be easy to hurt someone badly on a football field...so name one player who was seriously maimed or injured as a result of a Gregg Williams bounty play...name me one player who even accuses Gregg Williams of ending his career...do you really think an NFL player would really go out to paralyze another player or end his career for some $$?...a lot of them are playing against friends and even family

SpyGate was real and it provided a competitive advantage to 1 team...cheating...if they knew the Rams plays and won the Super Bowl then it's akin to the Black Sox scandal...ultimately you can't prove with 100% certainty that the Pats did that so Pats fans will always play that card when defending their team

What a bunch of whining patsies in the 21st Century. Back when real men played football, for practically nothing, they actually did try to hurt people. On every play. And thought nothing of it. Chris Hanburger tried to decapitate quarterbacks. It must be playoff time. Excuses galore.

People, ask yourselves why the NFL DESTROYED the tapes that the Pats* had in their possession? Only one reasonable explanation, it would have been too damaging to the league if they were released (as they should have been). Only those involved know the full scope of the cheating, but I would surmise that it was both egregious and continuous.

The Dolphins might be better off going full tank the season. Hire a retread coach for a year and clear out cap space of older veterans.

Won't disagree with that, but they aren't smart enough to do it. Raiders flat out said f it so I do respect that to a point.

Flores did spend over a decade with NE so he brings with him a pedigree of cheating that would be hard to find elsewhere, so there's that
