Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice 3D release date

This looked interesting in trailers, I will of course opt for the 3D release, any one else picking this one up?

July 19th

I pre-ordered this as soon as Amazon had it up. The movie was far better than the critics would have you believe. The story had its issues to be sure but at least it actually had a story with a beginning, middle and ending. The action scenes were spectacular and I actually ended up liking this more than Civil War. I saw it in 2D at the theaters so I'll be curious to see how it looks in 3D at home and this release will also include an expanded "R" rated cut which should be interesting to watch as well.

The R-Rated cut is a MAJOR improvement...you're going to love it. (Makes me wish even harder for that 4- hour version.) You'll never want to see the theatrical version again...which is a bummer since the longer, improved cut is not offered in 3D. And both versions do not showcase the IMAX sequences in the proper OAR. (2.35 all the way through on both.)

Its bad news that R-rated cut will not be 3D. Looks like I will have to watch both versions to get the complete experience.
Same happened with 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D'. Its R- rated cut was 2D. The 3D version was PG-13 theatrical cut.

They can keep the 4 hour version, I'll be happy with the theatrical version. Directors need to edit more.

I'll stick with the 3D version. I'm not going to buy two copies. Hopefully the looming Canada Post strike will be resolved by July 19.

I'm pretty sure the 3D version also includes the extended cut so you'll likely have it regardless.

By now I have seen both extended cut and 3D theatrical cut. Contrary to popular opinion - I found 3D theatrical cut a better visual experience!
I will go for 3D blu-ray over 4k here.

It really annoys me when extended cuts do not receive the 3D treatment... it's especially irksome when the extended version turns out to be superior to the theatrical release. Sadly, this appears to be the norm these days.

I would have preferred both versions get the 3D treatment as well, but given the generally sad state of 3D support these days, I'm just glad that we get any version in 3D.

Great to see some people that still enjoy 3d.

Depends - is it converted 3D? If so, extended cuts probably won't get the 3d treatment as the conversion was done as the last step, so the extended version will have scenes that were never converted... And the studios won't do it for a home release.

I want to see the extended cut, but I want to buy the 3D cut, what should I do?

So who's playing us, Warner Bros, FOX studios? ...Ext. cut, 3D, 2D, 4K, Dolby Atmos...

Is the 2D Blu-ray that comes with the 3D version, the extended cut? ...Or is it ONLY the UHD 4K version? I'm almost confused.
_________

And how come they didn't remaster ID4 in 3D with Dolby Atmos?
How come they didn't remaster Apollo 13 in 3D with atmos?
How come they didn't remaster The Fifth Element in 3D?

Anway, Batman vs Superman should have been extended in 2D/2K and in 3D.
I've read it's a good movie too. I'll wait for the discount bin @ Walmart...five bucks. ...Maybe ten, in 3D.
And the extended cut? That's the one to get...in 4K. It's the new Blu-ray world, the hi-end.

Batman, Superman...who won?

3D blu-ray has the 2D extended cut too. Buy it and forget about 4K.

Yes, I recently found it about it, cool.

About the audio, does it also have the same quality audio as the 4K "hi-end" version? ...Like 7.1-channel audio core and Dolby Atmos and DTS:X

I watched the 3D and UHD version on my JVC RS600. Enjoyed both versions but aways prefer 3D first when it's available.

Both versions have the ATMOS sound track.

Wouldn't make any difference...it would take longer and cost the studio more money to convert deleted footage to 3D. Peter Jackson does it because he uses 3D cameras. The Rogue Cut of X-MEN also used 3D cameras but, according to Singer, the effects in the added footage wasn't completed.

I just watched this a few nights ago and there were about 5-10 times that something in the background was visibly doubled and quite distracting. To be clear, this wasn't cross-talk leaking through--my left eye only saw the left image, and my right eye only saw the right image. But they didn't merge into a single image with depth, like everything else on the screen did.

I'm wondering if anyone else notices the same thing, which would indicate that it's the source material. If not, then it may be an issue with my particular equipment or configuration settings (3D TV size setting for example).

Post the time marks you encountered it. I don't recall anything like that but will take a look at specific segments you pick out. Possibly you had left/right reversed? I'm not sure what else would be the cause.

Unfortunately it was a rental and I've returned it, so I can't do that. From memory the only time I can remember for sure that it happened was the first time the tapestry (painting?) of angels is shown behind Lex Luthor in his father's study. I think this is when the Senator comes to notify him that she's decided to block the import permit. The highest angel (closest to the top edge of the artwork) had the problem.

I'll keep time marks in mind for the future if I see it happen again on a different title.

I'm certain it's not left/right swap. I swapped that once and it is very obviously bad.
