Big Thanks to you and your family for your service.

Thanks

Maybe you saw it from a Canadian visiting your state, many here have a bumper sticker very close to your signature.
It says "If you do not want to stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them"

Nice picture, never saw this one

Thanks for your support!

Its too bad that it could have looked better, but I'd be willing to forgive all that and buy it if it had a DTS: X audio track as was originally announced. Now I'll just wait for a sale, even though it's fairly cheap already.
Still, as popular as this movie is, I think it'll sell enough to make them not do another release, which is a shame

I went ahead and cancelled my order after hearing the reviews on this. I'll stick with the Skynet version for now.

Yes it would be nice, if the Studio would do-it right the first time, especially for older release.
We can only re-buy So Many time, no matter how popular the movie was and still is

If they want to make extra money from an older movie, and also the newer ones, for a new format like 4K/UHD, they should do it right the first time, especially for newer format that are suppose to be the Best available at this point of time.

Not buying is a good way to let the Studios know about-it, and I am sure they also read many different forums like this one.
And for a 4K release it is not acceptable enough, to replace your BD copy.

I'm sure we'd all like to think that our voice matters, but what makes you think studios are reading these forums?

At the end of the day all that matters to them is the bottom line, and unless there is a huge uproar and tanking sales, then they probably won't do anything - especially if James Cameron oversaw and approved the restoration.
Heck, there was already an uproar because the colour timing on the LotR extended Blu-ray release, and look what they did there. Nothing, that's what.

Once again, yet another 4K release without the "3D Bluray Disc" for the American Version... 3D is not dead despite the rumors.. The major studios are trying the best they can to kill it off in the USA..👎🏻

Why does it have a 7.1 channel German track but only a 5.1 channel English track? The 5.1 track is actually a downgrade from the Skynet edition, which has DTS-HDMA 6.1 mix, unless they’re going to call it a 5.1ES mix like the Incredibles BD has.

Thanks for the excellent review. T2 in 4K with EE, soft PQ, changed color temperature, and no immersive audio = no buy.

Agreed, Ralph.

I still remember Chief Petty Office David R. (Doc) Bland screaming at us: "NEVER assume anything. IF YOU DO, you make an (then he'd put this on the chalk board

ass (screaming: "out of")
u (screaming: "and")
me

Then he'd roll his arm in a flourish, throw the chalk at the offending person and stare at us all standing at attention....and make us stand there for what seemed like an eternity while it was supposed to sink in.

God Bless Doc Bland....he taught this young recruit a lot on that day!

Your point is well made, indeed.

I took a pass on this 4K/UHD, thanks in large part to your review Ralph. (ouch those are low numbers!)

I did however order the Re-Mastered 3D Region B version from Zavvi in the UK and it was excellent
(Thanks to @zombie10k )

My JVC X750(RS500) at 120" was sharp as a tack, well with my Xpand 3D glasses on anyway
(Region B 3D required an unlock mod on my Oppo 203)

Has it been confirmed that there will be no 3D release for the USA... Or has there been some talk about it eventually coming? I must have the 3D version.. 😊

I still have the Skynet BD as it's a collectors item in my opinion.

One of the very few BD to have both DTS 6.1 and the rare Dolby EX track. A THX optimizer. D-Box compatible. And of course a lot of great bonus content and easter eggs.

Decided to pick this up for the holiday sale $7.99 in the US, but definitely echo what everyone has said. The DNR is quite ugly and it seems like a lot of change to the color treatment, the picture is soft, and a lot of cyan has been added to the entire film. Was a bit confusing to see the made for 3d by studio canal frame especially when this is not a 3d release. Ugh James Cameron supervised this? I'm glad it was so cheap.

Definitely a let down. Swapped to my Skynet version and honestly for the most part prefer that to the UHD. Looks like they went back and regraded it.

Since this thread was brought back from the dead today I'll go ahead and give my thoughts.

I thought the 4K UHD looked good. I had picked up the disc back in April shortly after my OLED was calibrated. I didn't own a copy of T2 so for $12.99 I figured why not? I've never been a grain lover/hater so grain and DNR doesn't matter to me either way. Some older movies look great with it... and some new releases look great without it. Attached are some pics I took back in April when I was ooh lah lah'ing over the skin tones on screen.

If this is a bad looking version of the film please point me in the right direction of the 1080p disc I am missing out on. (I haven't viewed the 1080p disc that came with the film, should I?)

This version isn't for grain lovers. I am a grain hater so I love this transfer. IMO,T2 never looked this good in any of the previous versions. In real world we don't see grain when we look at things. This is a 4K transfer and I think this is how it should look. My 2 cents...

Greetings,

My comments in the review pretty much sum up the positives and negatives. I would say that since you're satisfied with what you're seeing here I would simply leave it at that and enjoy it. You're not wrong in being pleased with it.

So the initial review turned me off of it originally and I went on buying other things instead Then I did pick this up for $10 and sat on it for a while without watching, but was finally bored enough last night to give it a go.

So yea, maybe somewhat because I went in with the lowest of expectations, but I was kinda blown away with it. I mean, I thought it looked great! So many scenes so crisp, especially for an older movie, and not nearly as ugly as I was guessing from all the backlash. My problems were mostly not including a Directors Cut we've been more accustomed to over the years, and I thought the sound was really lackluster. Would've loved an immersive upgrade, but not only that, how are you gonna have 7.1 German and only 5.1 English available? That was the weakness for me, not the picture.
