Are you using an HDMI input? Those are the only inputs you can change.

Yeah, not too surprising.

Hey thanks again for the 940C deal. Received the set in perfect condition and I'm loving it. The extra 10" makes a big difference.

Yes using hdmi has a setting for full (16:9) but don't see a setting to cut overscan. My dish guide is cut off slightly.

Go to the HDMI input, Select Home, Settings, Picture & Display, Screen, Display area, Full pixel.

If your input resolution is 720p, you will set it to +1 instead of Full pixel.

So far, with my 940C, I haven't had any issues. My sense is that the P70 upscaled a bit better, but I can't be sure since I can't see them side-by-side.

Vizio is a great budget tv. I still recommend it.
But ultimately, the big boys (Sony, Samsung....LG) throw their weight around and get to choose what becomes standard in HD TVs.
The Vizio P65-C1 is HDR and will get HDMI 2.0A via a software upgrade, Vizio says. I couldn't quickly find if it supports HDCP; but I would guess it does.

However, your should note that the new Vizio sets in the P series are "tuner free"! So, if you want to watch over the air TV, you will need to get a tuner for it. I don't understand the logic of that.

Thanks, Got it! Now if I can get the HDR working from my Sammy 8500 ultra player I'll be happy...haha. I'll mess around with that tonight.

If you have trouble, it's probably because your HDMI needs to be set to enhanced.

I went to the store to check out the panel issue on the display x940c. If I have the lights in the living room out, the panel looks fine off or on. When I have the lights one, I see streaks on my screen during dark scene or when the screen is off. I can not see this on the TVs at the store. Do y'all think it's my tv or just the lighting? I have not had another tv that had this problem. Can someone shine a light downward on your screen to see if it makes streaks? You need a large light like a big flashlight or spotlight, and the lights needs to be facing downward. A phone light doesn't work. I have recessed lighting in the living room, and one light is about a foot past the tv and shines straight down. I only have 5 days left to decide if this is a panel issue or not.

I made the picture settings for the Standard and Custom picture modes exactly the same and I had a real hard time seeing any difference, maybe what you said about the Standard picture mode being saturated with more contrast could be the case but it's real hard for me to see it. After switching back and forth many times, if I had to pick which one had more contrast saturation I would pick the Standard picture mode. I find myself using the Standard Picture mode most of the time but not with the default settings but with some adjustments to a lot of the settings. I also did the same thing with the Cinema Pro and Custom picture modes and to me the custom was a bit brighter than the Cinema picture mode. I would like to call Sony and ask them about this but I find that most of there first tier support people really don't know very much. Still driving myself crazy with idea of having the main board replaced on my TV, thinking I might be better off leaving well enough alone.

Not a download, simply a pointer to a forum discussing that issue, and indicating that with the latest release, TWC seems to actively working to make it non-usable on AndroidTV.

940c vs 940d

Wondering what are the differences between 940c and 940d in terms of HDR capabilities ?
Sony's official doc on 940C merely mentions HDR compatible , while that of 940d talks about HDR much more prominently . (can't post the links yet)

Also any difference betweens these two in terms of peak brightness, local dimming zones ?

Believe Sony states the 940D meets(or exceeds) the UHD Premium specs ..,is it the case with 940C too ?

Image Resolution: 3840x2160
Color Bit Depth: 10-bit signal
Color Palette (Wide Color Gamut)
Signal Input: BT.2020 color representation
Display Reproduction: More than 90% of P3 colors
High Dynamic Range
SMPTE ST2084 EOTF
A combination of peak brightness and black level either:
More than 1000 nits peak brightness and less than 0.05 nits black level
OR
More than 540 nits peak brightness and less than 0.0005 nits black level

Thanks for any details...debating myself if I should wait for the 940d prices to come down or just grab the 940C at the discounted price..

I think it's very easy to question most everything TWC does. But that's fodder for another forum...

If you read through it all, it sounds like it's still possible to side load through HAL, but it's not going to work like it does on other Android, but non-AndroidTV devices.

Can I hook up a wired sub to the 940c or is it wireless only? I don't see a port for a rca jack.

How do I connect a Logitech k400 Plus keyboard to a Sony x930C. When I go to the Bluetooth section on the TV, I get prompted to make sure that the keyboard is in pairing mode. I do not see that as an option on the keyboard. I assume that the keyboard is paired with the enclosed dongle. Is there a way to get the keyboard to work with the TV?

Richard

I think the 930C gets pretty darn close to 1000 nits. I have both the 940C and 930C and haven't noticed the brights being brighter on the 940C. But then again, that 1000 nits is just in the spec, probably only a couple of scenes in a few movies will actually need it.

This may be a dumb question and admittedly I haven't done much research or vetted the menus, however, are you allowed to save multiple settings profiles for the same input? i.e. if I want to save both daytime and nighttime picture settings for hdmi 1 input and switch between them is there a way to do this without manually modifying each parameter again?

Thanks,

Tony
