Sony has not confirmed it so no one can say if it will or wont.
Knowing Sony they only include it in top the range model, if there was any chance of getting DV then they would have mentioned it at CES just like they said Sony OLED will get DV firmware update.

You have no idea if it will get DV or it won't - so just saying it won't is not correct.

It makes far more sense that it will get DV - why would Sony put out TVs in 2017 and state that both the 2017s AND 2016 model (Z9D) would be getting DV - but not having their 4K blu ray players not have DV?

That would make absolutely no sense.

So, while we don't know for sure - odds are that they will get DV.

A lot of things Sony does or doesn't do doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. For instance, they should have put out their UHD player with their own Ultra app and they didn't. I would have bought the Sony instead of the LG if they had. Instead, they keep making the Ultra app only available to specific android TVs.

The new Sony 1000ES will get DV the 800 is unknown
The Oppo pix get hit because of issues with disc playback.
Overall once Oppo get their bugs out I would probably rate pix quality equal to Sony and LG

I'm pretty sure he said nobody knows if it will get DV or not. At no point did he say it wouldn't.

No. I saw it. A little conflicting of a statement overall but I believe he was just commenting more on Sony's history. Still up in the air for everyone. I hope it does get it.

Just picked up UP970 this morning from Bestbuy. Both Netflix and Youtube do not work, requiring unavailable firmware update.

Picture quality is great on 1080p , 1080p 3D, and 4k. I like the remote and I was first surpirsed that when I first hooked it up and turn it on w/ my remote, it also automatically turned on my LG oled tv too. lol.

However, I am having problem with Amazing spiderman II 4k to play Dolby Atmos. Sounds stutters really bad. If I change player to do PCM in option, then sounds fine. Other movie disks such as John Wick and Risen do Dolby Atmos and DTS MA HD 7.1 just fine. Wonder if it's my copy faulty?

Picked up a LG today and bought the audio quest pearl for 29.99 to try out. Yes thanks been an monoprice customer since 07 when I bought my first HDTV a MIT DLP still have some of their HDMI cables with the ferrite cores. But read on other forums people having issues with their older monoprice cables even some redmire cables. The Pearl HDMI seem kind of thin but rated 18gbps 4k/60p 4k/3d Ethernet 4k ultra HD

If you already purchased the cables, it doesn't hurt to try them. There's a thread in one of the sections where people have tested the various HDMI cables to make sure they can pass 4K and HDR without any issues.

The older cables and Pearl cables may have issues, but the Certified High Speed have been tested and work without any issues.

I'm interested to hear from owners who own this player and other players and can compare the PQ of the HDR format and DV! I own the Sony right now with hopes of Getting DV, but if it don't I wanna keep a close eye on how this player is? I also had the Samsung and the Panasonic.

Sony may or may not get DV. PQ from reviews so far say it's similar to the Sony. Only issues are out dated ui and no apps working out of box.

What reviews are you looking at?

There was one person on here who said the LG looked about the same as the Sony and Oppo.

The video review that was posted just above stated that the Sony was much better.

Does anyone one know if there is a way of controlling just one LG player with the remote if you have more than one in the same room? I have a region free LG player I got years ago to play Region B content. When this new player comes in today, I will have 2 LGs and it seems controlling the new one will also control the old one, correct? The Panasonic players have something called Remote Code Set 1, 2, etc. so that if you have multiple Panasonic players, you can set it to ignore the commands from the 2nd player.

I didn't see any banding at all when viewing this movie (first 30 minutes or so). Not sure why others are saying that there is banding unless it could be a display issue and not the player?

QUESTION: Does anyone know how to view the last 15 seconds or so of a movie on this player? Is there a repeat button or something that lets you just see the last few seconds of content without having to use the rewind button?

Possible but the Oppo is there for comparison. And it's on a 126" 4k projection. Must be easier to see at that size.

Plus superchange was running the HDMI 1 port into AV so there could be an issue with banding via AV receiver and his particular TV.
