Gotcha. So the Oppo would do the scaling instead of the VP50. Is it safe to assume it would do a better job than the older tech I have in the VP50

I find the BDP-103D (same video as 105D) I have is better then the BDP-83 I have with a similar VRS processor as your VP50.

Thanks! Now I can think about buying the 105D without worrying about the 115 coming out in six months.

Good grief; those aren't the same thing, are they? "Will see" and "aiming for". They also don't say it will be called the BDP115D.

Probably been posted but if Qdeo is taken out, does the SI chip do the decoding & deinterlacing as well as scaling & processing? or is there a 3rd chip, Mediatek perhaps?

Oppo website doesn't exactly specify and the manual I don't think says either.

before I buy the D version, I want to know exactly what it has.

That makes sense. Aiming for 2013 would be silly.

As with the 103D, the MediaTek System-on-Chip does the decoding, de-interlacing and scaling up to 1080p. The VRS upscales to 4K when needed (after the Darbee processor does its thing).

Hi all, I just ordered a BDP-105D on Amazon. It will be used in a stereo-only system feeding a Yamaha A-S2000 integrated amp via 1m Kimber Hero XLR cables.

I am looking forward to comparing the 105D's sound to that of my TEAC UD-501 DSD DAC on DSD and FLAC files that I stream from a MacBook Pro using JRiver.

If the 105D equals or beats the TEAC in sound quality that would enable to me to sell not only the TEAC but also my OPPO BDP-80, which I use very occasionally for music Blu-rays and DVD's, as well as my trusty and bullet-proof Denon DCD-A100 SACD/CD player that sees less and less duty as I get more heavily into computer-based audio. Anyhow, I look forward to posting my impressions here as well as reading those of other 105D owners.

Ordered a 105D today at 2Pm and was shipped to Modwright for the tube mod at 6:00pm. Was going to go with the 105d not even realizing DSD support thru the async. usb. Bonus. Can't wait, should be the hub for the entertainment center for a while !!.

I placed my order yesterday and hope to receive it soon - it will replace a very trusty BDP-83 and feed an Integra 80.3. I am considering piping my Dish 622 output via the 105D rather than directly into the Integra to see if the Darbee helps with the image quality.

^ Amazon never stocked the 105. It was always listed with OPPO as the seller. That's likely to be the case with the 105D, too.

Has anyone else had trouble getting the Oppo iOS apps to connect to the 105D?

RemoteControl finds the player's IP, but doesn't display the player name: "10.0.0.8" instead of "OPPO BDP-105D". Also it is missing the image of the player. Tapping "Remote Mode" brings up a connecting message for about 1 second but nothing further happens. The menu screen on the player also shows a connecting animation, but nothing happens.

MediaControl brings up a "No Player Found" dialog with options to rescan or contact support.

Support suggested I check the firmware version and that my router has multicast enabled. I checked the firmware version and the network connection and both are fine. Multicasting is enabled as well, but still nothing.

^ Yep, looks like both apps need to be updated to recognize the device ID as supported.

ETA: Good catch, by the way! I've alerted OPPO through Beta Tester channels.

I just got a 105D and have a very odd problem. The Darbee feature does not work at all. I crank it up to 120 and nothing happens. When I go into split screen demo mode there is no black line to split the screen. After I try to engage the Darbee, the firmware update and Restore Factory Default options are greyed out. If I unplug the machine, those options come back, but get grayed out again if I try to engage the Darbee. I have the latest official firmware.

Any ideas?
