Costco mailed out a "Passport" flyer that contains information about a number of upcoming sales. One of which is the 43" Pioneer HDTV Plasma. Final price after 500.00 discount will be 3300.00. One item per coupon, per household.

Just thought members would like to know.

I hope this posting does not violate forum decorum.

I was looking at the Pioneer Plasma's at Costco this past week as they also have a 50" unit in stock. After taking a closer look, it turns out the model was introduced in 2003. (I don't remember what the model number was, but I looked it up on Pioneer's site and the press release was dated July 2003.)

This model was selling for $4,999.00. Sounded like a good deal until I did some research. A two year old panel, even though it may be brand new, does not have the updated features that current models have. My biggest concern is burn in and pixel life. Over the past couple of years, it seems that major advances have been made in these areas.

On the other hand, the picture looked great!

I noticed the offer for a special sale of the PDP-4345HD on Costco's web site. The offer seems too good to be true. This seems to be a new Pioneer. I would appreciate some guidance from more experienced users on this.

I have not done a whole lot of research on the Pioneer plasma's. However, at least the PDP-4345HD appears to be a current model. I suspect Pioneer is closing this out as the new models are ready to start coming out soon.

The only experience I have had with Pioneer is I do own a VSX-35TX receiver. I bought it as a "refurbished" unit from a local store a couple of years ago. It is part of the "Elite" line that Pioneer makes, which is their high end product. That really is a nice receiver.

Regardless, if you are looking for a 43" plasma, it does look like a good deal.

You have to watch the "deals" on TVs at Costco. They've had the RCA DLP that won't take 720p, and the Optoma DLPs without HDCP.

The PDP-4345 is a current model. I just bought one a few weeks ago from TV Authority. Beautiful set.

is the PDP-4345 for $3k + s/h really a good deal? I did some research on pricegrabber and came up with a bunch of stores that sell it for less when s/h is included..

I was really excited about getting a plasma from costco, but now it seems that most online stores offer better deals on newer merchandise. The only good thing about costco is their return policy. But who's really going to return such a huge tv in 2 years time if something goes wrong. They might not even accept it. Seems better to get an extended warranty if that's a worry.
