While most of us have normal jobs, there are a select few out there who are professional deal shoppers. These folks fortunately tend to "spill the beans" on hot deals at various places. Here are some of the ones where you can look to find good deals:

Deal Websites:
Also, you can use price search engines to find deals:
Some sites promote "Deals of the Day", and these deals can be very good for the HT enthusiast (e.g., IF4805 + screen for ~$600 [refurbished, of course]).
"True" liquidators probably deserve their own post, so I'll leave those for later. Please note that despite the glitzy advertising, Overstock.com is really not a place to bargain shop blindly (real liquidators don't waste money on spokesmodels!).

I'll keep this list updated as I come across others (that I'm willing to share! ;) ). If you want to nominate one, let me know!

Later,
Bill

PS: Should this be a sticky (at least in the short-term)?

I like slickdeals. Similar forum structure as AVS. I tried FW, but the navigation was odd.

Those are great sites; if its alright, I also suggest anandtech as this is where I first learned of hot deal forums and hunters (way back in 99). Very active forum and a lot can be learned. Between there and FW I saw posters pimping avs and thats why I am here now (tho lurked for many years). =P

Also check out dansdeals. He has a program that combs several hotdeal forums (some same as above) looking for new posts, so you dont have to sift thru all the ever changing forums and threads being bumped back up to top, then it emails the results to you throughout the day. Can be alot, but definitely easier than shifting thru a large amount of threads, and various forums.

Did anyone catch this CNN Article on online buying? Makes you want to not use cookies.

When will D* stop pushing HD-Lite while charging us for full HD? Digital input on a CRT is a reality, not a possibility.

Yep, I read that article as well, the process seems a little sleazy but not all that surprising.

Don't forget resellerratings.com. Especially for the too good to be true deals.

Woot's an odd case - it's basically a "deal of the day" type of thing, so that may need to be in a separate category (along with buy.com).

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned http://www.xpbargains.com
It goes above and beyond all the other sites in my opinion, and has a large following in the forums.

In what way? (I am actually curious about this!)

The best one I know of is hot-deals.org, and that is only because they e-mail you deals as they happen. BargainShare has an "insider's first" forum where they post deals for invited folks first, before migrating the thread to the main forum for the rest of the vultures [me] to see. Since almost all of these sites depend upon the revenue from retailers' affiliate programs to stay in business, I am curious if someone really has found a truly distinctive edge.

Later,
Bill

Ease of use for me, and their forums are very friendly and allow anonymous posting

Here is the deal I have been following for 3 months, its dropped $150 in that time
I predict it will drop another $50 in a month
