I'm almost positive this list isn't being actively maintained. There are numerous titles not listed on it, including the Immersion sets from Pink Floyd.

If somebody wants to maintain the list, the best thing to do is start a new thread with the list updated and use the report post function and ask for this thread to be locked.

It has both mixes on it. Use the yellow button to select 192/24 stereo. No screen needed to navigate. A real nice work.

Of course!  What I was asking him is which mix, stereo or mch, he was listening to and, by extension, which one he preferred.  I could ask you, too.

IMHO, the MCH mix is mediocre but the stereo mix is excellent.

OP here. Sorry for not updating the list. This thread died a couple years ago (or so I thought), so I was surprised to see it spring back to life. smile.gif Is there some way for me to make the original post freely editable by everyone? It would be great if people could just add their stuff directly.

I don't know if this counts, but Oblivion has the isolated score by M83 (Anthony Gonzalez) and Joseph Trapanese. It is in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 16/96.

Loose sounds like moose. Lose sounds like news.

This thread is not up to date with blu-ray audio release.

There's all the 'pure audio blu-ray' discs plus others such as pre-orders: Yes - Close to the Edge (5.1), XTC - Nonsuch (5.1), Queen - Night at the Opera (5.1),

For me, the #1 spot for best BD-A release remains comfortably with Rush's Moving Pictures but I just ordered this, so we shall see. wink.gif

The Primus disc is very nice sounding, and to my ears much better than Moving Pictures. However neither compare to the SQ of the newer Steven Wilson stuff, IMO.

Under the category of "I want it on Blu-Ray" I would add Boz Scaggs' Greatest Hits Live DVD. It pushed the envelope on DVD. It was recorded live at the Great American Music Hall in 2004 in San Francisco. This was at the beginning of HD TV and as such besides the regular recording crew, Mark Cuban's crew were there recording it on their HD cameras. That is why I'm hoping it gets transfered to Blu-Ray.

This was a flawless live performance with great musicianship. In fact the 15 minute "Lone Me A Dime" cut got some major award at the 2005 CES. I was there but wasn't aware of it.

I have the CD and the DVD and the clearly the DVD audio is better, not counting the fact that it's 5.1.

I also think Boz Skaggs greates Hits Live should be on BluRay. It's a fantastic concert. But if it does get the BR treatment it better be TrueHD or Master Audio. I was very disappointed when Toto Live In Amsterdam was released on BR and it didn't include Hi-Res audio.

I lived in the Bay Area for 30 years but some how knew nothing about that concert. The ones with tickets on that night got a treat. As good a guitar player as Boz is I thought Drew Zing's guitar playing really stood out. In fact every musician sounded like they were on the top of their game. All live, no double takes. WOW.

I"m a big fan of his later blues music. Supposedly there was a video made of his Memphis recording. I just hope it is in Blu-Ray.

Oops. Looks like I'm in violation of the original post. Sorry.

But OTOH the audio on Blu-Ray concert videos can be so good, why not include them.

Had a question about the Blu-Ray audio discs. Ordering them from England, do I need a region free player? Thanks in advance for your help.

I wish they would release more titles on Blu Ray discs than SACD.

Nothing wrong with SACD, but BD plays on all BD players and has enough space for the surround, stereo and CD mastering.

Actually, it looks like that future is already here...

Although we mostly talk about multiple sound mixes for the same movie, there also exists the need to mix different channel count variants of the same live recording. Some tracks on the (audio only) Blu-ray disc of SOUVENIR by TrondheimSolistene on the 2L label (link) were assembled into 2.0, 5.1 Standard, 7.1 Standard, and Auro 9.1 mixes from a single 11 microphone array recording.

A strategy developed by pureaudio (link) (but it appears NOT currently in use by Universal Music's High Fidelity Pure Audio (HFPA) Group) permits easy switching between several versions of the same recording on an audio-only Blu-ray disc . . . the RED GREEN BLUE and YELLOW buttons on the BD remote are used for selection in pureaudio's proprietary user interface software technology.

Examples of what has been done with the pureaudio technology include SOUVENIR by TrondheimSolistene on the 2L label (link) and Portrait by Joseph Haydn on the MDG label (link) each offer significantly different (playback) versions of the same recordings (including with|without height speakers) . . . as the respective BD back covers show:

SOUVENIR by TrondheimSolistene...

Portrait by Joseph Haydn...

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v80), quality = 90

The L2 website indicates additional Auro 9.1 discs are in progress, and MDG appears to continue exploring Aurophonic 6.0 2+2+2 (aka 2-2-2) and Aurophonic 8.0 2222+ (aka 2222plus) configurations. Unfortunately the first Auro 9.1|10.1 home theater decoders are still only rumored to appear this week at CEDIA 2013...?!

No extra points for confusing the names of the non-profit Pure Audio Group (link) and Universal Music's High Fidelity Pure Audio (HFPA) Group! eek.gifcool.gifbiggrin.gif

Jeez, how much does a 9.1 system cost, and a receiver that can output that many channels?

I wonder if it would just be cheaper to hire the band to play a personal concert.
